Our Story

A few years ago, we were fed up with the bag market.

The same problem, over and over. Sky-high prices, ugly designs, and materials that last a year or two at best. Nylon and plastic, sold as 'premium,' at prices where you'd expect leather that lasts a lifetime. The promises weren't exactly modest either: a bag meant to last a lifetime would arrive already damaged. And customer service? Let's not even get started.

What struck us was that we weren't the only ones who felt this way. Colleagues, friends, acquaintances, everyone who valued quality and needed a briefcase, work bag, whatever you want to call it, asked the same question: do you know a reliable brand that actually makes good, beautiful bags and cares about its customers too?

Now, we have to be honest: making a good bag is NOT easy, and certainly not when you're not a bag maker yourself.

But maybe that worked in our favor. We didn't know what was 'standard' in the industry, so every choice was measured against the same question, one we still ask of everything we make today: would we be proud of this ourselves?

Where there's a will, there's a way. And we had already decided to bring change to this market. Specifically, for those who hold quality, design, and service in the highest regard.

And so we began a journey that literally took years.

It started with the leather. There are an incredible number of types out there: chromium tan, suede, full grain, top grain, you name it. But naturally, our attention went to the one that takes the longest to produce and isn't available just anywhere: full-grain, naturally tanned leather. We could fill a book on this leather alone, but we promise to keep it short.

Together with the tannery, we put our own spin on it, a beautiful full-grain leather, naturally tanned and free of toxic substances, with a tweak of our own that makes it feel soft while staying robust enough to last a lifetime. It's the same leather you'll find across our entire range today.

But leather alone doesn't get you there. What followed was a search through at least 20 types of zippers, from local to international brands, and we still ended up at the gold standard: YKK. The Japanese brand trusted even by NASA to keep spacesuits closed. We use them in everything we make.

For the interiors, we chose 100% cotton twill, durable and soft to the touch, with the same leather as the exterior for the accent pieces.

Then came the prototypes, 13 of them for our very first bag alone. It had to be high quality, have a beautiful classic design, and be functional and durable. That obsession didn't stop with the first bag. It's the standard every product since has had to meet.

Putting your all into something pays off. In the end, we had it: The Origin. A beautiful silhouette with classic details, elegantly finished reinforced seams, handles that sit comfortably in the hand, and an interior fitted with no fewer than 11 pockets. It became the foundation for everything that followed, the cardholders, the wallets, the accessories, each one held to the exact same standard.

We don't make bags to impress on the first day. We make them to still impress years later, when other bags have long been replaced.

We're based in the Netherlands, and we run everything from here. We keep our product at our fulfilment center in the heart of The Netherlands, Utrecht and ship the same day, orders normally arrive the next day except for weekends.
